MY STORY
3 Years of Doing Everything Right —
And Still Getting the Diagnosis.
I spent three years doing everything right. Macros. Strength training. Intermittent fasting. I lost 45 pounds in perimenopause and genuinely thought I had figured it out.
I was a nurse. I knew about metabolic health. I was living it. And then in 2025, I was diagnosed with insulin resistance - not diabetes. And I know so many midlife women are sitting in that same in between space, feeling symptoms but not yet flagged on labs.
I remember sitting with that diagnosis feeling two things at once: confused and, strangely, relieved. Confused because I had been doing the work. Relieved because for the first time, I finally had an answer for all the things that hadn't made sense.
The 3am wake-ups. The afternoon crashes.
In 2025 I started wearing a CGM — a continuous glucose monitor — and saw what three years of healthy living never showed me. My blood sugar was spiking and crashing all day. The CGM did not lie. And it changed everything about how I eat, coach and teach.

And I realized I wasn't alone — so many midlife women are doing everything right and still not getting answers.
So I started sharing. Not as an authority with all the answers — but as someone walking this road alongside you, learning out loud, and sharing everything I discover along the way. Always honest. Always in scope. Always from a place of education, not medical advice.

A Little More About Me
I'm an almost empty nester living in North Carolina — watching my oldest daughter finish nursing school this May and planning her wedding for 2027. My youngest is almost 21, still home, and my travel buddy — we love exploring together.
My health journey actually started in a place most people don't expect. In 2019, my husband battled cancer. Watching him fight changed everything about how I see health, time, and what really matters. That experience lit the fire.
Now my dad is facing aggressive esophageal cancer. Health is wealth has taken on a whole new meaning for our family. That's the urgency behind everything I share.
I believe we are called to steward our health — to be proactive, informed, and intentional about the body we've been given. Not because we can prevent everything. But because knowledge, movement, and awareness give us the best possible foundation.
I share my own journey transparently — because my community deserves honesty, not a highlight reel. 🩺🎀
